CIRCUSES

Take a look at these facts about circuses with animals:

The animals never have a real home as they are always moving from place to place

Whips and sticks with sharp ends are used to train animals - this hurts them!

They are stuck in their cages or tied up for most of the day, with nothing to do

Lions, tigers, dogs, cats, snakes, camels, parrots, ducks, horses and elephants are used in circuses

Elephants are usually chained up by their legs when they are not being used in the show - they can hardly move

Most dogs are kept in cages instead of living with a person in their home

Animals have been hit with sticks and kicked by circus workers

No animals have ever been put into the wild from circuses - they stay in cages all their lives

Lions, elephants and other animals have escaped from the circus and hurt lots of people
